William B. (“Bill”) Smith

Bill Smith has practiced business transactions, real estate, taxation, and estate planning for Ferguson Case Orr Paterson for three decades.
Rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, Bill has handled millions of dollars worth of real estate matters. Recent transactions have included the sale of an 85,000 square-foot commercial building in Sunland, California for $9,700,000.00; the sale of a shopping center in Moorpark, California for $7,550,000.00; the purchase of a vineyard property in San Miguel, California for $4,700,000.00; and the purchase of a 54-acre vineyard property in Templeton, California for $3,900,000.00. Similarly experienced in business transactions, Bill recently handled the sale of a division of an oil and gas company for more than $1,000,000.00.
Bill earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he graduated with honors. He obtained his law degree from Santa Clara University in 1986. He then traveled south to the University of Southern California, where he received his Masters of Business in Taxation in 1993.
Bill lives in Ventura with his wife, Rose Hayden-Smith. His daughter, Natalie, attends college in Oregon. He has been active in local charitable organizations over the years. He was a founding member of the Ventura Hillsides Conservancy Board of Directors, and has served on its board and on its advisory board for many years. During his tenure with the Conservancy, Bill has been instrumental in helping to acquire much of the land it currently owns.
In his personal time, Bill has coached a variety of basketball teams in Ventura County. He has been the coach of the Ventura Fusion girls club basketball program for over ten years, and has mentored many players to ultimately play high school and college basketball. In his free time he likes to surf and play basketball.
